Anika and Roy, A non-traditional, bright wedding at Novelty Hill-Januik

Anika and Roy were originally referred to me by the venue they ultimately ended up choosing, Novelty Hill-Januik. The funny thing is, Anika ended up being friends with another past couple of mine, which is always a fun coincidence.
Anika reached out wanting assistance with their planning and design and was ready to move forward, even knowing I was going to be out of town. Rachel was going to be along for the ride so she could seamlessly take over their wedding day while I was gone.
We got to work curating ideas for their wedding. She knew she wanted there to be some brighter colors, such as oranges, pinks and peaches and that she didn’t want it to be too feminine-feeling. The colors of a ripe peach ended up being the inspiration we started to build off. We went with a neutral tone overall among the linens, plates, chairs and candles, so the bright flowers and fruit could shine through. They added a pop of color in the menus for some additional fun.
Anika didn’t want a traditional wedding bouquet and Roy had a pocket square boutonniere. They decided to walk down the aisle together, rather than having either set of parents give them away, which was so sweet and perfect for the two of them.
They had a fabulous buffet dinner followed by a gorgeous cake and Hello Robin cookies that were warmed up for guests to enjoy. Cocktail napkins featuring their cat (also named Roy) greeted everyone throughout the night.
The couple changed into their matching sweatsuits during the dance party so they could really relax and enjoy the rest of the night.
Their wedding was such a perfect reflection of the two of them. Their guests enjoyed the party (and fruit!) and I’m so proud of how the design turned out.
