Conor and Madison’s Classic Tacoma Wedding
Madison and Conor hired me in May of 2019. Their mid July wedding with 200 guests was scheduled for the church her grandparents were married in, St. Patricks Church in Tacoma, followed by an outdoor garden experience at Annie Wright was going to be fabulous!
And then 2020 happened…
They were so optimistic at the beginning of Covid that we would check in after new guidelines were set or restricted by the governor. They waited some and then decided the original plan was not going to happen. The church wedding remained, while the reception was reduced in size and moved to the Tacoma Golf and Country Club with hopes of a larger reception there in the end of September.
Then the numbers went up again at the end of June and both Madison and Conor got Covid. 3 weeks before their July wedding. There wasn’t enough time to make everything happen while they were in quarantine at least up until a week before their wedding. So, back to the drawing board!
Everything was rescheduled to their second reception date in September. Then receptions were canceled so we had to change things again. What was allowed within the ceremony, what wasn’t? We went back and forth on what was allowed and what was possibly going to change by their wedding date. What was known for certain, was that they were going to get married in St. Patricks Church, because that was of utmost importance to them.
The numbers improved so the governor decided to open receptions back up again a week before their ceremony at St. Patrick Church in Tacoma. Conor, Madison and their families decided to rent out an adorable restaurant down the street from the church for their reception, Le Sel Bistro. Their staff was fantastic and the food was equally amazing. It was one of those meals where you chose one entrée, but you would have been completely fine with the other as well because they were that good. Maria with Earthtone Strings was amazing in making things work in her schedule to join the party at the last minute and provided amazing ambiance at the restaurant.
They were chauffeured around in the same car as Madison’s parents when they were married. It so happened that their family friend still owned the vintage Jaguar, and that the weather was good enough that day for him to drive it around. We had the best time recreating the same photo her parents took with the car. Look for the photo of Madison’s veil and dress flowing in the air!
Char Beck Photography did their wedding and engagement photos and was incredible to work with. Karrie Michelle Floral Design nailed the florals for the personal flowers and the gorgeous church arrangements. Madison requested a more fall feel to the colors but still with an organic feel. The bright pinks, gold, rust and purples were beautiful together and made a statement in an already beautiful church.
Watching Conor and Madison prep and get married was something we were all so incredibly excited for. There were a lot of bumps in the road leading up to their big day but when it arrived, there was nothing but smiles all around. It’s weddings like these that make me grateful for what I do. There were rough times in prepping for their big day, but I’m so incredibly happy they are now able to call each other husband and wife.
Many thanks to the amazing, flexible vendors who made this day possible:
