Our little guy turned one back in October. There are a lot of people who think that an elaborate birthday party for a one year old is a bit ridiculous. I beg to differ! It’s not just about celebrating a year after the baby was born, but it’s a celebration for the parents in that they kept their baby alive and thriving for a whole year! (And lived to tell the tale about it) For my husband and myself, this year was more difficult because the babe is our second child. Having two kids is no joke!
Anyhoo, from the time I was pregnant with the babe, I’ve always latched onto the adorable little fox outfits, decorations, etc. that were out for babies and little boys. I gathered up quite a little collection of outfits, bibs, and even his little lovey is a cute little fox. Once I saw this ADORABLE stamp set and punch from Stampin’ Up! I knew this is what his first birthday theme had to be.
First up was the invitation for the party. I stamped the cute little fox with the Calypso Coral Classic Stampin’ Pad as well as the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. I also used the black pad for the “Look who’s turning” on the invitation. That stamp is from the Number of Years Photopolymer Stamp Set and the number 1 is a die cut from their coordinating set, Large Numbers Framelits Dies. All of these items can be found at Stampin’ Up!
I had such a good time coming up with little trinkets of foxy things to throw in at his birthday party. It didn’t hurt that the set made things really easy to adapt to different positions on paper and such. For instance, I made these super cute cupcake toppers:
Along with the fun Stampin’ Up! fox-themed items, I hung up some of the babe’s fox clothing and such that we’d had since he was born. The only thing I forgot to hang up was his fox lovey and well, kids and parties happen. No big deal. It was still a fun, easy decoration for the party that I had on hand. String, clothespins and clothing items. Ta da!
For the big moment of the party (Happy Birthday song and first cake eating) I made a banner to go on the babe’s high chair that said ONE. Details on how to make the banner later but here’s a quick snippet on what it looked like. The babe wasn’t too amused by it but it at least made for some fun pictures.
Together with all this fun, I had another banner on the wall of all of his monthly pictures I had taken throughout his first year.
We had coloring pages out for the older kids and some fun goody bags for them to take home. Overall, it was a fun party for our family and friends to celebrate the babe’s first birthday. Let me know what you think or if you want to see anymore details on anything!
